Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved horses and barrel racing. I also loved my daddy. He was the one who made my dreams come true. He was the kind of guy that was always "thinking out of the box". Back then, things lasted longer and if it broke, you fixed it. If you couldn't buy it, you invented it. We had a lot of things in our household that dad invented to make life easier. As kids, we didn't know that other people didn't have these same inventions. People would always ask my dad why he hadn't tried to patent some of these ideas. I don't remember exactly what he said but I know that he wasn't coming up with these ideas for any reason except to make things easier for his family. I always admired that. I promised him that someday, I was going to invent something and that I was going to get a U.S. Patent on it as a tribute to my dad. After school, a career, and raising three children, I finally found the time to do it. I had these pop-up barrels in my mind 15 or so years before I got serious about inventing them. In 2004 Seventeenflat.com was born. U.S. Patent No. 7,870,838 says they are mine and the Trademark office says that I own the name POP-Up Barrels. Seventeenflat was a time on the barrel racing clock that my dad always told me to strive for. He passed away in 1989...I know he would have been proud of Seventeenflat.com and I know he would have liked the name.
